Sage Corps is an international internship program that sends top university students to work with entrepreneurs at startups for eight weeks. Host startups are affiliated with a local business accelerator, incubator, or co-working space with whom Sage Corps partners.
Past students have made incredible contributions to their companies in short periods of time, whether it was developing a web/mobile platform or market entry strategy for a startup. Sage Corps currently seeks a city manager who will be living in Barcelona this summer from June 6 through August 2, 2026 .
In addition to their work experience abroad, students also attend cultural events and professional events. Finally, students connect with our alumni community of 1,900+ young professionals who provide career advice and potential job contacts/opportunities.

Sage Corps is seeking city managers for its summer programs (June-August). This part-time position will require approximately 5 hours of work per week over eight weeks with some ramp-up work in advance.
Responsibilities include:
* Act as local contact and culture/language resource for a cohort of top U.S. university students who will spend eight weeks working for local startups
* Curate and develop a calendar of weekly events and activities for Sage Corps students to attend while in-country
* 24/7 on-call emergency phone support for on-site students (responsibility shared with a local co-manager)
* Support and handle any on-site crises in coordination with Sage Corps HQ
* Provide immediate and pertinent communication with Sage Corps HQ in the event of an emergency
* In case of emergency, coordinate with local partners in support of the students, including student housing, medical professionals, and other local partners
* Communicate with Sage Corps HQ weekly regarding events and program management
* Assist students in their adjustment to a new culture and help them to maximize their learning opportunities
* Potentially identify a colleague or friend to serve as city coordinator to assist in case of emergency or unavailability of city manager
* Assist with program setup if needed, including housing site visits and arranging some orientation events
* Act as liaison between Sage Corps and local host incubators/accelerators, host startups, and local professional contacts in the startup ecosystem (entrepreneurs, angel and VC investors, influencers/connectors, corporations)
* If possible, help source new host startups that will offer internships to our students for the summer
Requirements:
* At least two years of post-university work experience
* Enjoys working with and mentoring university students
* Experience leading groups and organizing events
* Excellent local knowledge of the city in which students are working
* Enthusiastic, outgoing
* Strong public speaking skills and a strong command of the English language
* Conversant in the host city's local language
* Strong organizational skills
* Knowledge of/experience in local startup ecosystem is helpful
* You must commit to being in the host city for the program dates, OR have the back-up city manager working with you cover those dates, but we strongly prefer candidates who commit to being in the city for these dates for Summer 2026:
Barcelona: June 6 - August 2, 2026
Compensation:
Based on the 5 hours/week commitment, the total stipend for the City Manager for the program is $1,500 USD working with a second city manager. The two city managers can also split the total program stipend differently based on agreed workloads.
