Job Purpose
Be part of the Vueling Slots Team, supporting the strategic management of the company’s slot portfolio across key European and African airports. Ensure timely acquisition, retention, and compliance with EU and local regulations, while securing optimal slot access aligned with business growth and market demand. This role reinforces Vueling and IAG’s competitive positioning and contributes to shaping industry standards and best practices.
Main Accountabilities
* Slot Portfolio Management - Protect and optimize Vueling’s most valuable slot assets, ensuring alignment with operational and strategic goals.
* Schedule Coordination - Maximize opportunities to meet the company’s slot requirements in close collaboration with Scheduling and Network Planning teams.
* Strategic Growth Enablement - Identify growth opportunities in congested and strategic airports by staying informed on capacity declarations and slot release mechanisms, in coordination with Strategy and Network.
* Analytical Support - Produce insightful analyses, assessments, and recommendations related to slots and airport capacity, including competition-related processes.
* Industry Representation - Represent Vueling’s interests in external forums such as Slot Conferences, Coordination Committees, Sabre User Conferences, IATA discussions, and airport capacity panels, helping shape industry standards and practices.
* Group Alignment - Support coordination of slot-related matters across the IAG Group, ensuring strategic alignment and collaboration.
Main Responsibilities – Tasks
* Submit timely slot applications to coordinators at key airports.
* Monitor utilisation to preserve historical slot rights.
* Coordinate backup slot plans with Network and Scheduling.
* Facilitate slot sharing with IAG affiliates (Iberia, BA, Aer Lingus).
* Analyse competitor slot activity and market trends.
* Prepare required documentation and regulatory reports.
* Produce slot performance reports for internal stakeholders.
* Collaborate with Legal on compliance for slot agreements.
Relations
Internal :
* Network planning – Align slot requests with network goals.
* Scheduling – Ensure slot alignment with flight schedules.
* Legal – Oversee compliance in slot agreements.
* OCC – Handle real-time slot adjustments.
* Data – Analyse slot usage metrics and develop new tools
* Strategy – Align with long-term business plans.
External :
* Slot Coordinators – Submit and negotiate slot requests.
* IAG & Affiliates – Coordinate intercompany slot use.
* IATA – Represent Vueling in slot policy forums.
* Regulatory Bodies (EU Commission, airport authorities) – Engage on policy changes.
Education
* University Degree in Engineering, Aeronautical Management, Business Administration or a related analytical field
Experience
* Ideally, but not a must, experience working in airline planning.
* Experience handling large datasets and deriving actionable insights is highly valued.
* Experience in analytical roles focused on business (is a plus).
* A high level of Excel is a must.
