We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Fermentation Technician to join our innovative R&D team focused on developing alternative protein sources. As a technician, you will support the daily operations of our pilot fermentation facility. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful research in a well-established Spanish company with over 60 years of history.What you will do:In this role, you will assist in the operation and maintenance of our pilot-scale microbial fermentation plant, working with equipment such as:- Bioreactors (5–250 L)- Mixing tanks- Rotary evaporators- Centrifuges- Spray dryersYour main responsibilities will include:- Preparing, operating, and cleaning fermentation and downstream processing equipment.- Monitoring fermentation processes, collecting samples, and recording process parameters.- Supporting senior scientists in microbial biomass and enzyme production projects.- Conducting routine lab and equipment maintenance (e.G., cleaning, sterilization, basic troubleshooting).- Ensuring adherence to safety and operational protocols.You will work under the supervision of senior staff and will be trained to ensure safe and efficient operation of all systems. This is a hands-on, technical role suited for individuals who enjoy working with equipment and contributing to applied research.Qualifications & Experience:- Vocational training (FP Grado Superior) or BSc in Biotechnology, Food Technology, Biology, Bioprocess Engineering, or a related field.- 2+ year of hands-on experience in a laboratory, pilot plant, or industrial fermentation setting (including internships or academic projects).- Familiarity with basic laboratory procedures, fermentation processes, and handling of microbial cultures.- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.- Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.Essential for the role:- Basic experience with bioreactors and/or spray dryers is highly desirable.- Willingness to learn and operate complex process equipment.- Comfortable working in a team under the guidance of senior personnel.- Basic understanding of CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems and fermentation safety protocols.- Spanish and basic English (written and spoken).- Valid driving license.Desirable:- Familiarity with microbiology techniques (e.G., culturing bacteria or yeast).- Basic knowledge of analytical methods such as enzyme assays, protein quantification (Kjeldahl), or HPLC.LocationSan Mateo de Gállego (25 minutes away by car from Zaragoza), SpainOccasional business travel and/or congress attendance.What we offerCompetitive salary commensurate with experience and an indefinite contract.You will have the opportunity to develop your professional career in stimulating and cutting-edge research projects within a consolidated company.
