Responsibilities (Text Only)
* Establishes collaborative relationships with relevant product and business groups inside or outside of Microsoft and provides expertise or technology to create business impact. Takes initiative and drives activities such as technology transfers, standards organization participation, patent filings, white paper authorship, development or maintenance of tools/services for internal use, or consulting for product or business groups. May publish research to promote receiving new intellectual property for business impact.
* Brings new technology and approaches into production by applying long-term research efforts to solve immediate product needs. Collaborates with researchers across the company, Microsoft Research, or within their own organization, bridging the gap between research and development teams. Negotiates across teams to ensure cutting-edge technology is practically applied to meet key business objectives. Develops understanding of research approaches used across the organization to leverage solutions effectively.
* Independently works to create product impact by identifying approaches and applying, improving, or creating research-backed solutions (e.g., novel, data-driven, scalable, extendable) to positively impact Microsoft products or services. Designs strategies to solve significant business problems, possibly publishing research to promote new intellectual property.
* Serves as an expert within a product domain, gaining deep knowledge of complex or ambiguous services, platforms, or domains. Shares knowledge of industry trends and technological advances with engineers and product teams to apply advanced concepts for product development. Fosters an understanding of the industry to inform product direction.
* Reviews business and product requirements, incorporating state-of-the-art research and tested solutions from Microsoft and academia to formulate plans that meet business goals. Identifies problems and develops strategies to resolve team or feature-level issues. Provides strategic guidance on data utilization for problem-solving.
Qualifications (Text Only)
* Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related fields with relevant experience in statistics, predictive analytics, or research.
* Master's Degree in the same fields with relevant experience.
* Doctorate in the same fields with relevant experience.
Other Requirements
* Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Preferred/Additional Qualifications
* Extensive experience in statistics, predictive analytics, or research at the master's or doctorate level.
* Proven publication record (patents, libraries, peer-reviewed papers).
* Experience presenting at industry conferences or events.
* Experience conducting research in academic or industry settings.
* Experience developing and deploying live production systems and products through various stages of the product cycle.
