NN Digital Hub is a subsidiary company of Nationale Nederlanden Group located in Madrid, Spain. We deliver IT services and solutions for the different international Business Units from Nationale Nederlanden Group.
What is the purpose / mission of the position?
As a Node.js Backend Engineer, you will have the opportunity to modernise our backend applications, automate processes, and improve our systems. You will work with cutting-edge technologies at one of the largest financial institutions in the Netherlands, leading important changes as NN aims to become a leading digital retail bank.
What you are going to do
* Evaluate our technological landscape, design, and implement automation of processes.
* Investigate, analyze, and fix bugs.
* Integrate and operate systems.
* Define and evolve our solution architecture.
* Develop and maintain unified coding standards.
* Contribute to strategic initiatives in Savings, Investments, and Bank Assurance to ensure future-proof solutions.
* Create automation and integrations using software tools.
* Collaborate with the Engineering Guild and contribute to community knowledge sharing.
* Conduct code reviews and make final decisions as an editor-in-chief.
* Mentor and coach other engineers across domains.
Who you are
You are experienced in building high-quality software, communicate well with both business and engineering teams, and are proactive in fostering a tech-led culture. You are familiar with GIT, pipelines, package management, and testing, and can teach others as well. You also have:
* 8+ years of experience in software development as a Node.js backend engineer.
* Strong knowledge of REST and GraphQL API integration patterns.
* Understanding of CI/CD concepts and a DevOps mindset (“you build it, you own it”).
* Knowledge of React is a plus.
Who you will work with
You will be part of a small, cross-functional Agile scrum team, working alongside engineers and functional maintainers. You will engage in technical discussions to refine user stories, enhancing customer experience across channels. The team is known for its informal, friendly, and collaborative culture.
