The department’s interdisciplinary program focuses on gender and its intersections with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, nationality, disability, and age. It encourages students to develop critical thinking skills, deepen their commitment to social justice, and craft solutions to social problems.
Position Summary
Qualified candidates will teach undergraduate courses in the Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) and LGBTQ2S+ Studies curricula. Eligible courses include:
Lower Division courses:
WGSS 10 Intro to Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies
WGSS 11 Introductory LGBTQ+ Studies
WGSS 12 Critical Thinking
WGSS 18 Women and Ageing
Courses in the LGBTQ2S+ Studies curriculum:
WGSS 165/PSYCH 165 LGBTQ Psychology
WGSS 122 Queer Indigenous and Persons of Color
Instructor Responsibility
Temporary faculty will adhere to university and system-wide policies, prepare and deliver lectures, conduct office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and examinations, and maintain scheduled classes in the assigned instructional mode.
Compensation
Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the CSU salary schedule for Class Code 2358 Academic Year Lecturers. For Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree, the monthly range is $5,507–$6,677 for full-time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually near the minimum of the range, adjusted based on WTU assignment.
Required Qualifications
A Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.
Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations.
Successful undergraduate or community education teaching experience.
Experience in Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies or a related field.
