The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC‑CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing hub. It hosts MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers, and serves as a founding member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE. Today, BSC is the host entity for EuroHPC JU and conducts research, development, and management of information technologies to drive scientific progress. BSC blends HPC service provision and R&D across computer and computational science (life, earth, and engineering) under one roof, employing over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.
Context and Mission The Life Sciences Department’s Social Link Analytics Unit focuses on analysing biological and medical data to assess their societal impact. Core activities include:
Leading the Bioinfo4Women programme of the Life Department.
Researching sex and gender biases in health and artificial intelligence.
Studying disinformation spread across media and social networks, using network analysis, AI, and large‑language models.
Comprehensive evaluation of AI applications in health, considering technical, human, and social dimensions.
In this context, the successful candidate will help develop the integration of large‑language models within current projects and design solutions for generating, processing, and analysing data.
Key Duties
Analyse ML training datasets to identify biases.
Support coordination of the research line within the Bioinfo4Women programme.
Disseminate results through data visualisations, scientific articles, blogs, and online media posts.
Requirements
Education
Degree in Computer Science, Computer Architectures, Mathematics, Bioinformatics, Physics, or similar.
Master’s degree in the same fields, or in the process of presenting a master’s thesis.
Or higher education (FPII).
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience with Python programming.
Experience in AI development and data analysis.
Experience in web programming languages and frameworks (e.g. JavaScript, HTML, CSS, WordPress).
Collaborative experience in multidisciplinary teams.
Experience with Python data tools (Pandas, NumPy, Jupyter Notebooks, scikit‑learn, Matplotlib/Seaborn) for data curation and visualization.
Minimal experience with Linux‑based environments is appreciated.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Good communication skills; proficiency in Spanish and English (written and spoken); Catalan language skills appreciated.

Conditions
Position located in BSC’s Life Sciences Department.
Full‑time contract (37.5 h/week) with a state‑of‑the‑art environment, flexible hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support.
Open‑ended contract tied to project and budget duration.
Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24 & 31 December per collective agreement.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, adjusted to Barcelona cost of living.
Starting date: 01/01/2026

Recruitment and Selection
The process follows a competitive examination system (“Concurso‑Oposición”). Two phases: curriculum analysis (40 pts) and interview (60 pts). A minimum of 30 pts out of 60 is required to advance.
The selection panel comprises at least three people with at least 25 % representation of women.
Additional components may include a personality questionnaire and a technical exercise.
All interview participants receive detailed feedback on acceptance or rejection.
