Project Manager GaN (Senior Engineer)
Onsite working in Spain Required
The Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating projects focused on the development, fabrication, and commercialization of products and systems based on Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology. This role requires a combination of technical expertise in GaN devices and strong project management skills.
The Project Manager oversees project execution from planning and resource allocation to risk assessment and delivery, working closely with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and external partners. Responsibilities include the physical implementation of photonic or electronic devices, DRC verification, and collaboration with PDK and design teams.
Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate R&D projects aligned with technology roadmaps
Lead technical tasks and documentation with multidisciplinary teams, driving the design, development, and transfer to manufacturing of GaN-based products and components
Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, budgets, and KPIs
Review work from junior engineers (layout, process, and design) to ensure quality standards
Establish and track project schedules, milestones, and budgets using project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, ClickUp)
Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Prepare and present project reports, progress updates, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders
Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and best practices
Support business development and technical marketing with expertise on GaN technology and project outcomes
Ensure accurate records of experiments, measurements, and fabrication steps
Required Education and Experience:
Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics, Materials Science, Optoelectronics, or a related field (business/project management training is an advantage)
Minimum 7 years of experience managing semiconductor R&D projects
Strong expertise in GaN technology, including device design, process development, fabrication, or product integration
Proven project management experience in the semiconductor, photonics, or advanced technology sectors
Technical and Management Skills:
Deep understanding of GaN devices, materials, and fabrication processes (e.g., epitaxial growth, etching, metallization, packaging, characterization)
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., ClickUp, Microsoft Project) with ability to manage budgets, resources, and schedules
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in technical project contexts
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience with photonic design and simulation tools such as: KLayout, Cadence, IPKISS
Lumerical (FDTD, MODE)
COMSOL Multiphysics
Expertise with PDKs (Process Design Kits) and DRC (Design Rule Checking)
Hands-on experience with optical/electrical test setups (optical spectrum analyzers, probe stations, power meters)
Experience with device simulation tools (Lumerical, Silvaco, COMSOL) for optical, electrical, and thermal modeling
Knowledge of cleanroom processes: photolithography, etching, deposition, metallization, wafer bonding, etc.
