About the role
We operate three European warehouses (two in Germany, one in Italy) on SAP ECC 6.0 Warehouse Management (WM). We are looking for an experienced SAP WM Expert to take ownership of support, configuration, and continuous improvement of our WM landscape. You will work closely with logistics teams, document enhancements, deliver user training, and coordinate external consultants to ensure smooth and scalable operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide L2/L3 support for SAP WM across three sites;
manage incidents, problems, and service requests.
* Lead customizing & configuration (SPRO) for WM: storage types/sections/bins, putaway & picking strategies, replenishment, cycle counting, physical inventory.
* Design and implement process improvements end-to-end: blueprints, fit-gap analysis, solution design, testing, cutover, hypercare.
* Maintain and extend interfaces (IDoc/EDI) with upstream/downstream systems, RF devices, printers, label solutions, and automation/WCS where applicable.
* Prepare and maintain functional specs, test cases, process documentation, and training materials;
deliver workshops and user training.
* Plan and execute projects using recognized project-management methods;
manage timelines, scope, risk, and stakeholder communication.
* Vendor/partner management: steer external consultants and service providers;
track deliverables and SLAs.
* Collaborate with adjacent SAP areas (MM, SD) for integrated process flows (inbound, internal movements, outbound, returns).
* Support change & release management (transport strategy, regression testing, deployment).
Required Qualifications
* 5+ years hands-on experience with SAP ECC 6.0 WM in a multi-site operational environment.
* Strong WM customizing skills: putaway/picking strategies, storage control, replenishment, physical inventory, RF setup.
* Solid understanding of IDoc flows and integration with MM/SD;
ability to collaborate with Basis/Infrastructure teams.
* Experience in writing functional specs and working with developers;
ABAP debugging knowledge a plus.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
comfortable with data validation and root-cause analysis.
* Fluent English (written & spoken);
German skills are a plus.
Nice to Have
* Experience with RF, barcode scanners, label printing, and forms.
* Exposure to warehouse automation/WCS, carrier integration, or yard/intralogistics solutions.
* Knowledge of transportation and inventory/costing impacts.
Soft Skills
* Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation.
* Clear, structured communicator with a documentation mindset.
* Ownership mentality, hands-on, and comfortable prioritizing in a live operations environment.
* Collaborative team player who can also work independently.
