About BSC: The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC‑CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing centre, hosting MareNostrum and the new EuroHPC JU infrastructure. It is a hub for research in life, earth and engineering sciences, with over 1000 staff from 60 countries.
Key Duties
- Develop AI‑based NLP solutions and clinical LLMs for health applications, with emphasis on deep learning architectures such as transformers, generative AI and agentic AI.
- Process unstructured data and content (EHRs, literature, patents, clinical trials, social media).
- Apply NLP techniques to biomedical and clinical data.
- Support users of the AI Factory (start‑ups, SMEs, corporates, academia, public institutions) in building early‑stage AI healthcare applications.
- Provide data‑science consulting and strategic input to projects in medicine, pharma, materials sciences (biomaterials), chemistry, toxicology and biotechnology.
- Participate in entrepreneurship and innovation training (business planning, investor pitching, startup development, data‑science strategy).
- Publish research results and present at international conferences.
- Participate in outreach and dissemination within the AI Factories innovation ecosystem.
Requirements
- Education : Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related field. PhD is welcome.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience : Expertise in machine learning / deep learning applied to biomedical or healthcare data; strong programming skills (Python, R, etc.); familiarity with frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow; interest in entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystems.
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience : Hands‑on experience with transformers, generative AI, agentic AI, medical imaging, NLP or multimodal AI; familiarity with HPC environments or large‑scale data infrastructures.
- Competences : Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to interact with clinical, academic and industrial partners; fluency in English and Spanish (Catalan is a plus).
Conditions
- Location: BSC within the Life Sciences Department.
- Contract: Full‑time (37.5 h/week), adaptable working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support.
- Duration: Open‑ended.
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus the 24th and 31st December as per the collective agreement.
- Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience.
- Start date: ASAP.
