Industrial Safety & Security Engineer – Grifols
Grifols is a global leader in plasma‑derived medicines and transfusion medicine, operating in more than 110 countries. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Safety & Security Engineer to strengthen our safety and security systems across Spain.
Overview
In this role you will support the Maintenance and Regulatory team in ensuring the safety of industrial operations and facilities. Working under the Europe Industrial Safety & Surveillance Manager, you will oversee the day‑to‑day management of fire protection, pressure equipment, refrigeration, APQ, and related systems.
Responsibilities
* Manage regulatory maintenance of industrial safety across all Spanish sites.
* Collect information on new and existing installations to submit for legalisation and record them in SAP.
* Track periodic revisions and update maintenance dates for all equipment, including fire protection.
* Coordinate maintenance teams for regulatory tests scheduled during plant downtimes.
* Monitor changes in regulations, assess impact and update maintenance plans.
* Oversee fire protection systems, high‑pressure equipment, refrigeration units, and APQ installation projects.
* Participate in the initial and closing phases of engineering projects to evaluate industrial safety impacts.
* Maintain current status of fire main and graphic programs in collaboration with Grifols S.A. maintenance.
* Maintain inventory of the fire protection network across Spain.
* Perform safety walkthroughs to verify compliance with legal and internal requirements.
* Propose improvements, anticipate bottlenecks, aging or technological changes.
* Manage CAPEX allocation for implementation of improvements.
* Coordinate legal compliance audits and manage documentation.
* Maintain the departmental document master list and monitor expiry dates.
* Supervise safety and surveillance training of employees.
* Ensure the departmental information is hosted and accessible on the corporate server.
* Manage environmental activity licences in coordination with the Environment and Engineering departments.
* Co‑manage visits from insurers and audit teams, handling required documentation and follow‑ups.
* Collaborate on security physical and surveillance needs with the European Physical Security lead.
* Implement actions derived from risk analyses and audit recommendations.
* Support corporate industrial safety initiatives and international projects.
* Contribute to the definition and updating of corporate standards.
* Participate in corporate safety meetings and other departmental audits.
* Track and close all audit observations, coordinating with other departments as required.
Qualifications
* University degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
* 3–5 years of experience in a similar role, with strong fire protection and industrial safety regulatory knowledge.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD.
* Advanced Excel skills.
* Experience with SAP or equivalent system.
* Advanced English proficiency.
* Availability to travel occasionally.
