This position is responsible to manage the operations/marine execution team on a daily basis, with matrix liability to the planners.
Responsible for the strategic leadership and direction for staff and the day-to-day operations of a Terminal. Supervise all container stevedoring and yard activities with due regard to high productivity, safety and quality while ensuring maximum production levels with efficient utilization of labour and equipment.
Member of the terminals’ leadership team.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

5. Sets priorities and structures tasks and goals.
6. Provides effective organisation and control of all terminal operations to meet company objectives and prepare for global strategy
7. Coordinates terminal planning and operations to ensure effective ship working programs are set and maintained to ensure vessels meet sailing or berthing deadlines.
8. Coordinates with other departments, external/internal customers, stevedores and vendors to ensure smooth day to day operations and alignment.
9. Use data for decision making.
10. Creates an environment that is supportive of learning, training and developing team's competencies.
11. As part of the terminal's Senior Management Team, helps to set and execute the strategy.
12. Engages with internal and external customers, regulatory authorities, internal and external worker's council, front-line employees and top management.
13. Responsible for setting and managing the budget for the Operations cost center.
14. Represents the company with local government organizations related to Operations in order to ensure a mutual understanding of the Company’s goals and requirements, and to work in a cooperative partnership with local resources.
15. Applies the overall APM Terminals standards and guidelines on Operations.
16. Reinforce APM Group culture, values & reputation & ensure compliance with APM Group policies.

17. The position reports directly to the COO, APM Terminals Algeciras, and in her absence take the role as head of the operations division.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

36. General knowledge and experience on terminal practices.
37. At least 3 years in management roles in container terminals.
38. In depth knowledge and understanding of the operating concepts of a modern container terminal.
39. Understanding all aspects of vessel operations from planning to execution.
40. Strong interpersonal skills able to build relationships and manage multiple stakeholders' interests toward a common business benefit.
41. Ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and assistance to meet objectives
42. Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork to achieve results.
43. Effective negotiation skills with the ability to navigate through diverse negotiation and influencing styles depending on situation, commodities, market conditions, own and counterparts’ strengths and available alternatives.
