Overview
Origen.AI, an artificial intelligence startup focusing on the energy sector, is looking for a Sr. Backend Developer to join our team in Spain.
Origen.AI develops methods for modelling, simulation, and optimization of complex systems, particularly systems involving physical properties. Our revolutionary technology accelerates simulations by up to 10,000x, opening up unprecedented opportunities across many industries.
We are based in New York, with offices in Madrid and Sevilla. This role will be located in Spain with a flexible hybrid approach (some days in the office, some remote).
Working hours are shifted later to coordinate with our North American team, ending at 7 PM.

Responsibilities
Your daily routine at Origen.ai
You will work in the Platform team, developing the Backend for Proteus, our SaaS client-facing platform.
You will build scalable services and components for a web-based complex architecture, deployed using CI in a cloud Kubernetes infrastructure. Your primary language will be Python.
You will support our Research team in making cutting-edge algorithms industry-ready, tackling challenging problems to engineer scalable, performant, and maintainable AI solutions.

What we Expect from You
At least 5 years of relevant experience.
* 3+ years of backend development experience with high-level Python frameworks (e.g., Flask, FastAPI, Django, AIOHTTP).
* 3+ years of RESTful API development experience, with the ability to analyze client-server communication requirements and design APIs / endpoints.
* Experience in analyzing real-world problems, designing relational DB models, and implementing them using DDL in major RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, Oracle).
* Proficiency in writing tests; a strong testing background is essential.
* Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure, is required.
* Experience with Docker, understanding its role in local development and CI / CD pipelines.
* Strong communication skills in English and ability to work collaboratively.
* Experience with Celery or Prefect and asynchronous processing for background tasks and backend performance optimization.
