At UPS Healthcare, facility reliability and regulatory compliance are essential to delivering critical healthcare solutions. We’re looking for a Manager – Buildings & Systems Engineering (BaSE) to lead our facility engineering teams across Italy & Spain, supporting a large, regulated healthcare footprint and driving both technical reliability and financial discipline.
Scope of Role
- Regional coverage: Italy & Spain
- Portfolio: 39 buildings / ~4.77M sq ft
- Leadership: 5 direct reports
- Strong focus on Cost Control & Budget responsibility for all BaSE‑managed accounts (maintenance & facility engineering spend)
What You’ll Do
- Lead multi‑site BaSE operations to ensure safe, compliant, reliable building systems in a regulated healthcare environment.
- Provide leadership and coaching to 5 direct reports, ensuring strong execution, clear priorities, and effective escalation management.
- Own performance of critical infrastructure (e.g., HVAC, refrigeration, utilities, fire protection and other building systems).
- Drive cost control and budget ownership for BaSE‑managed accounts: forecasting, variance reviews, and cost optimization without compromising compliance or reliability.
- Manage vendor and contract performance, ensuring service quality, compliance, and corrective actions.
- Support capital planning and execution: RFAs/CAPEX justifications, approvals alignment, and delivery to standard.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial or related).
- Senior experience leading facility engineering / building systems across multiple sites (healthcare, pharma, logistics, or regulated industrial preferred).
- Proven strength in budget ownership, cost control, and vendor management.
- Strong stakeholder management skills in a multi‑country, matrix environment.
- Fluent English; Italian and/or Spanish is a strong advantage.
- Location flexibility: Madrid (San Fernando de Henares), Barcelona or Somaglia (Italy).
