Senior Tax Accountant
Reporting to the Tax Manager, the Senior Tax Accountant will oversee the company’s EMEA and APAC direct tax processes, compliance, and initiatives. This role is an individual contributor responsible for ensuring accurate tax filings, compliance with deadlines, and collaboration across regions.
Key Responsibilities
* Review or assist with EMEA and APAC corporate tax returns prepared by external advisors.
* Perform research to ensure accuracy of tax filings.
* Assist with preparing the annual and quarterly worldwide U.S. GAAP tax provision.
* Communicate with tax authorities regarding communications or notices.
* Manage EMEA and APAC direct tax payments.
* Support the accounting team during audit procedures for local country GAAP financials in the EMEA and APAC region.
* Coordinate with accounting, revenue, and accounts payable teams and IT.
* Execute direct tax controls needed for EMEA and APAC compliance.
* Own relationships at appropriate levels in the organization.
* Oversee direct tax processes including filing deadlines and tax calendar.
* Monitor global and local Pillar II legislative developments and translate them into practical data and process requirements.
* Gather, validate, and analyze financial and tax data for Pillar II calculations and reporting.
* Assist in maintaining transfer pricing policy and documentation, coordinating with external advisors.
* Support implementation of medium and long-term global direct tax strategy and objectives.
* Assist Tax Manager and VP of Tax in tax planning initiatives and special projects.
* Provide analysis of direct tax impacts of company transactions.
* Coordinate and support tax audit responses.
* Maintain technical proficiency on tax-technical developments, industry trends, and direct tax legislative changes; communicate changes to stakeholders.
* Proactively identify, recommend, and implement process and tax systems improvements, including automation opportunities.
* Identify and implement direct tax-related optimization opportunities and long-term strategies.
Required Qualifications
* 3+ years of global direct tax experience, covering EMEA and APAC regions.
* Fluent understanding of direct tax and compliance issues and related accounting processes.
* Experience managing direct tax audit processes.
* Knowledge of local country GAAP and U.S. GAAP (asset).
* Experience with tax control issues and process redesign for internal controls.
* Prior experience in a multinational environment, coordinating cross-country teams.
* Big Four experience preferred.
* Experience with tax technology and ERP systems (e.g., Avalara, NetSuite).
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
* Experience in process improvement and automation initiatives within tax compliance.
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred); Master’s degree in Taxation (preferred).
