About BSC
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for EuroHPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries.

Context And Mission
The exponential growth of RISC-V in the market in the last few years demonstrates the industry's commitment to its adoption. RISC-V is a key piece within the European strategy for its technological independence and autonomy from other regions. Thus, Europe has enabled multiple funding mechanisms around RISC-V in HPC, and BSC has been leading many of them. This has positioned BSC as a worldwide research center in RISC-V technology. In order to manage all this knowledge, BSC has developed a comprehensive intellectual property rights strategy based on 3 pillars:
1. Exploitable research results, promoting entrepreneurship.
2. Portfolio management, with protection strategies and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management.
