The Controls Field Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software products within the Controls Services Business portfolio. The primary customer base includes the Power Generation and Oil & Gas industries internationally, with potential onshore and offshore locations.
Job Description
* Install and commission Control Solutions hardware and software across various machine types in industries such as Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and Fertilizers.
* Troubleshoot existing Control Solutions hardware and software on-site.
* Prepare field service jobs and interventions in coordination with project managers.
* Provide on-site technical assistance to customers and training to their employees as needed.
* Supervise mechanical and electrical subcontractors, including de-installation and re-installation of instrumentation.
* Oversee cable laying, meggering, and connection tasks.
* Lead and execute loop checks, commissioning, and functional testing phases.
* Manage unit start-up and performance testing, ensuring safe operation and troubleshooting control system issues.
* Maintain accurate timesheets, obtain customer signatures, and document job reports thoroughly.
* Maintain operational knowledge of Nexus Control Solutions hardware and software.
* Monitor site safety during job execution.
* Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
* Understand and adhere to Terms and Conditions (T&C) commitments.
* Accurately log hours, expenses, and timesheets in internal systems.
Required Qualifications
* College degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, IT Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience in Oil & Gas and Power Plant industries.
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
* Hands-on troubleshooting skills in electrical and mechanical systems.
* Strong knowledge of control systems for rotating equipment (Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Compressors).
* Experience with control panels (UCP, MCC, DCP), DCS, and fire fighting systems.
* Familiarity with field devices, instruments, and actuators.
* Ability to use specialized tools like pressure pumps, multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings (wiring diagrams, P&ID, GA).
* Ability to work under pressure and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including overtime.
* Valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain one).
