Role Overview
This role offers a unique opportunity to join our developing risk engineering team and realize your full potential. Unlike long-established and rigid processes, you will proactively participate in shaping how our risk engineering functions and supports underwriting processes and loss control. Your imagination will be as important as your experience and communication skills. Collaborating effectively with underwriters and engineers across all offices to deliver world-class risk engineering services will ensure your international visibility.
Core Responsibilities :
1. Provide risk engineering services for Property underwriters across all Everest International offices, focusing on heavy manufacturing industries such as food, automotive, pharma, and light chemicals.
2. Support the Everest business by delivering risk assessment and prevention services to facilitate account retention and growth.
3. Support prospect client-specific sales strategies and activities, contributing as a strong sales asset.
4. Conduct risk management services, including attending client roadshows and meetings, conducting site surveys, developing risk improvement recommendations, and managing loss reviews and account service plans for the Property department.
5. Collaborate with underwriting and risk engineering teams to develop risk management structures, assessment reports, grading tools, loss estimate guidelines, and other capabilities.
6. Create and maintain service instructions, reference materials, training guides, and standard recommendations.
7. Manage publications and website content related to risk engineering.
8. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality work in a cost-effective manner, meeting department performance metrics.
9. Contribute to underwriting guidelines, research emerging issues, and evaluate business opportunities and insured submissions.
10. Maintain and develop value-added services to meet customer expectations.
11. Support marketing efforts with materials and presentations; deliver technical presentations as needed.
12. Participate in department initiatives and planning sessions to address emerging issues and opportunities.
13. Develop and maintain relationships with key brokers and clients.
14. Communicate effectively with management and coordinate with other departments such as Claims and Market Management.
15. Recommend new procedures and programs where appropriate.
16. Monitor regulatory, scientific, and technological developments, linking them to risk evolution, and periodically issue technical update bulletins.
17. Monitor losses to inform underwriters and risk assessments; update recommendations accordingly.
18. Align risk engineering processes across lines of business to implement a global "One Everest" approach.
19. Share knowledge and documents with other Everest Engineers and Underwriters to enhance team expertise.
Candidate Profile Skills & Abilities
1. Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships internally and externally.
2. Maintain and develop market knowledge, including competitor profiles and products.
3. Judgment and decision-making skills, using logic, rationality, and objectivity.
4. Commercial attitude and strong communication skills, including participation in seminars.
5. Fluency in both spoken and written French and English; knowledge of German or Spanish is a plus.
Experience & Qualifications
1. Significant experience as a Risk Engineer within insurance.
2. Degree in chemical, mechanical engineering, or a relevant discipline.
3. Strong presentation skills and experience.
4. Ability to work with large accounts, producers, and underwriting partners.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
6. Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
