Position SummaryTemporary faculty may teach composition, literature, creative writing, and high‐enrollment general education courses.
\n
Instructor ResponsibilitiesTemporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to university policies, preparation, delivery, and assessment of lectures, office hours, assignments, quizzes, projects, and exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in‐person, or hybrid).

Appointment ConditionsAppointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the \"Order of Work\" in the collective bargaining agreement. Candidates must demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States.
\n
CompensationSalary ranges per CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358) for a Master's holder: $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are at or near the minimum.
\n
Semester AvailabilityThe temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed. As a pool member you may be asked to start on short notice and remain available for a maximum of two academic terms; reapplication is required thereafter.

Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026

Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
\n
Required Qualifications
\n
Education: Master's degree in English or M.F.A. in Creative Writing from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
\n
Experience: Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.
\n
Preferred Qualifications
\n
Ph.D. in English.
\n
Commitment to teaching excellence, demonstrated through prior teaching experience and evaluations.
\n
Successful undergraduate teaching experience.
\n
Expertise in a closely related discipline.
\n
