Job Purpose
Reporting to the Head of Vendor Management – Airports and Indirects, the Vendor Manager handles strategic supplier management, cost optimization, and risk mitigation for Indirect categories. This role develops and executes category strategies, conducts sourcing and contract negotiations in collaboration with IAG GBS, and ensures supplier performance aligns with Vueling’s operational and financial goals.
The role involves working with internal stakeholders and IAG GBS Procurement to drive procurement excellence, foster supplier innovation, and ensure compliance with SLAs and rebate agreements. It also supports transformation and efficiency initiatives by identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and value creation.
Main Accountabilities
1. Support the Head of Vendor Management in executing projects to optimize costs and operational performance.
2. Develop and implement Category Management Strategies for Indirect Categories, including Marketing, Communications, Call Centre, Property & Professional Services, ensuring stakeholder and IAG GBS Procurement alignment.
3. Conduct market research, industry analysis, and strategic planning for each category.
4. Drive cost-saving initiatives within set timeframes and budgets, collaborating with Finance Business Partners.
5. Identify and assess make-or-buy opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
6. Lead negotiation strategies with key suppliers and oversee contract lifecycle management, including segmentation and relationship management.
7. Manage sourcing, RFx processes, and contract negotiations with IAG GBS.
8. Monitor supplier obligations, performance, and compliance, addressing claims and risk mitigation plans.
9. Report on cost savings, risk assessments, and supplier performance to leadership.
10. Present contract award recommendations to senior management, including CFO and COO.
11. Establish continuous improvement plans and R&D collaborations with key suppliers.
12. Coordinate steering committees, tenders, and sourcing initiatives with IAG GBS.
13. Track savings, provide monthly reports, and develop business cases for cost efficiencies.
14. Analyze expenditures to identify savings and collaborate with the Transformation team on cost optimization.

Main Relationships
* Business Unit Directors, Managers, Finance Business Partners, CFO, Vendor Management, Administration, IT & Data, Legal departments, and IAG GBS Procurement.
* Airport Category suppliers (Ground Handling, Uniforms, Crew Hotels, Disruption Management, Cleaning, Catering) and Indirect Categories (Marketing, Communications, Call Centre, Property & Professional Services).
Education
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
* Certifications in Procurement (e.g., CIPS) or Project Management (e.g., PMP, Prince2) are advantageous.
Experience
* At least 3 years in procurement, vendor management, or category management within aviation or related industries.
* Experience in airlines and Indirect Categories.
* Proven skills in contract negotiation, supplier relations, and cost optimization.
* Experience in a cross-functional, international environment, ideally within large groups like IAG or oneWorld Alliance.
* Familiarity with aviation regulations, compliance, and operational initiatives.
* Knowledge of SAP, Icertis, or other Procure-to-Pay systems is desirable.
* Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills for strategic procurement decisions.
