Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results‑driven Business Development Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will identify, prospect, and secure new business opportunities across Europe, while maintaining and nurturing relationships with existing clients in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and prioritize target clients in line with the company’s segment strategy.
* Develop and implement strategic business‑development plans to achieve sales targets and revenue goals.
* Proactively prospect, cold‑call, and engage with potential clients to generate new business opportunities.
* Attend industry events to build and nurture relationships with the target audience.
* Lead the entire sales cycle from initial contact to contract negotiation and closing deals, leveraging internal experts and partners.
* Build and maintain strong, long‑lasting relationships with customers.
* Understand customer needs, challenges, and objectives to effectively position our services and solutions.
* Collaborate closely with the business‑development team in Basel, Switzerland and Montreal, Canada, and solution experts across the company.
* Stay on top of industry developments, competitive landscapes, and emerging trends to identify new business opportunities and potential partnerships.
Experience and Skills Required
* Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field; an advanced degree (MS, PhD) is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in business development, sales, or client management within the CRO or broader life‑science industry.
* Strong understanding of the drug‑discovery process, chemistry, and medicinal‑chemistry concepts.
* Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and objectives.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
* Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset and the ability to translate insights into plans.
* Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
* Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, attend conferences, and industry events.
