Context And Mission
The Atmospheric Composition Group (AC) of the Barcelona Computing Center is running workflows at different timescales with the EC-Earth climate model, producing large amounts of data from a wide range of experiment configurations, including different definitions of outputs and variables. The successful candidate will work within the Data and Diagnostics Team and Model and Workflow Team to support the development and implementation of new variables in the model itself and in the postprocessing pipeline to convert the raw data to community standards formats (CMOR netCDF). The work also implies the integration of these developments in the workflow.
Key Duties
* Implement changes in the Fortran code of the models to produce new variables in the model output.
* Adapt the CMORization and standaridization Python code to process new GRIB variables in NetCDF.
* Contribute to setup and verify the generation of cmor outputs for AC experiments
* Integrate the new codes in the relevant workflow
* Provide support and guidance to potential users and other developers on the newly developed features, as well as promote best practices
Requirements
* Education
o Having a Masters in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Physics or related discipline
* Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
