Lead Back End Engineer (C# / Workflow Platforms / Salesforce & SAP Integration)

We’re helping our enterprise client find someone exactly like you - someone who can lead the development of a critical workflow platform that connects Salesforce and SAP, enabling a streamlined RFQ-to-Offer process across the organisation.
You’ll play a key role in designing and building a platform responsible for orchestrating engineering requests, proposals, and commercial offers. The platform will reduce manual handoffs, ensure end-to-end traceability, and create a reusable data backbone to support analytics and AI initiatives.
The work sits at the intersection of enterprise workflow automation, API integrations, and scalable backend architecture across a rapidly growing global engineering organisation.
Your Role as a Lead Back End Engineer:
You’ll lead the development of the backend services powering the platform, building workflow logic, integration services, and core modules that connect enterprise systems such as Salesforce and SAP.
You’ll combine hands‑on engineering with technical leadership – guiding other backend engineers, reviewing code, and ensuring the platform architecture remains scalable, maintainable, and production‑ready.
The role requires strong ownership and delivery mindset as the team rebuilds a platform after an earlier internal solution failed to meet expectations.
What You’ll Do:
* Design and build backend services that power the workflow platform supporting RFQ‑to‑Offer processes.
* Develop scalable APIs and workflow logic that orchestrate interactions between Salesforce, SAP, and internal engineering systems.
* Lead backend development using C# and modern service‑based architectures.
* Design reusable platform services including authentication, state management, and data access layers.
* Guide the development team through architecture decisions, implementation approaches, and engineering best practices.
* Review code, mentor engineers, and lead from the front on complex technical challenges.
* Work closely with frontend engineers building workflow interfaces using React or Flutter.
* Coordinate integration development with external enterprise systems and existing infrastructure services.
* Collaborate with product owners, engineering teams, and stakeholders to iterate quickly on features and gather feedback from real users.
* Ensure systems are designed for scalability, reliability, and future multi‑tenant deployments.
* Support technical evaluations and help define engineering standards and delivery processes for the platform.
What You Bring:
* Strong experience building backend platforms using C# and modern service‑based architectures.
* Experience designing workflow‑driven systems or enterprise process automation platforms.
* Proven ability to integrate enterprise systems such as Salesforce, SAP, or similar large platforms.
* Experience designing APIs and service integrations across distributed systems.
* Strong architectural thinking with the ability to balance speed of delivery and long‑term maintainability.
* Hands‑on experience leading backend engineers through code reviews, technical decisions, and system design discussions.
* Experience delivering systems iteratively, prioritising rapid feature delivery and continuous feedback loops.
* Strong communication skills and ability to guide teams through complex engineering decisions.

* Experience working with distributed systems deployed across multiple global regions.
* Familiarity with Salesforce and SAP integration patterns.
