The PositionThe Pharma Technical Operations (PT) Global MSAT & Engineering (PTT) group takes bold steps to modernize technical operations to enable Roche to deliver medicines for patients more quickly, efficiently, and reliably. PTT shapes and accelerates technology innovation and product lifecycle management for tomorrow, while standardizing and driving operational excellence in PT today.
The Direct Material Technical Management Team oversees the technical activities of direct materials management, including material lifecycle and risk management through the application of material science and data-driven knowledge. This includes end-to-end oversight of direct materials used in biologics and synthetic molecule production, including internal and supplier specifications, regulatory filings, and collaboration with QC and technical experts across the network.
The OpportunityThe Direct Material Data & Risk Analytics Specialist supports PT-wide risk management through hands-on material assessments, technology-enabled data analysis, and cross-functional coordination. This role develops and applies solutions that ensure reliable and sustainable material supply across the product lifecycle. Furthermore, you:
Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives for direct material lifecycle risk management by applying material science expertise and data analytics across the PT manufacturing network.
Partner across PT functions to proactively identify and mitigate technical material risks using structured risk assessments.
Implement and maintain data-driven systems and dashboards to visualize and monitor direct material risks, supporting a shift from reactive to predictive risk management.
Provide subject matter support for materials, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory expectations.
Translate technical, procurement, and quality inputs into actionable risk insights to support supply chain resilience and product health initiatives.
Collaborate on the development of digital platforms and knowledge-sharing tools that support the broader Direct Materials community.
Who you areYou have a BSc / MSc / PhD preferably in science or engineering-related fields with at least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or medical device industry, or an equivalent combination of education. Furthermore:
Experience in direct materials, technology transfer, and material science is advantageous, with exposure to regulatory compliance and quality risk management.
Hands-on experience in manufacturing, specifically regarding direct material management.
Proven track record of working across manufacturing sites on high-impact projects.
Experience facilitating alignment across functions such as procurement, quality, development, manufacturing, and supply chain.
Led initiatives that delivered measurable efficiency gains in GMP environment.
Experience with raw and single-use materials for both clinical and commercial supply.
Proficient with analytical and enterprise systems for data analysis and risk evaluation.
Hands-on experience in Tableau and Python
