As a Children’s Technical Designer, you will bring your expertise and creativity to co-create products that balance design intent, commercial needs, brand DNA, and real-world manufacturability. You’ll partner closely with internal design, merchandising, and production teams, as well as our global factory network, ensuring that every silhouette not only looks beautiful—but fits impeccably, is engineered to standard, and is delivered on time and at the right cost. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Technical Designer for the Kids division, you will work directly with Design and cross-functional partners to execute seasonal vision while achieving flawless fit and construction.


Product Development & Technical Execution

* Partner with the Creative Design team to translate aesthetic direction into technically sound garments, aligned with seasonal calendars and brand strategy.
* Collaborate with factory Technical Design teams to ensure cohesion between brand standards and manufacturing capabilities.
* Manage all technical requirements from development through production, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and scalability.
* Create and maintain detailed tech packs including:
o Specifications & measurements
o Tolerances & grading rules
o Construction details, stitching, and BOM elements
o Detailed flats and diagrams
o Fit evaluation comments and corrections


Fit, Construction & Quality

* Measure and evaluate proto samples for fit, functionality, construction, and pattern accuracy.
* Lead virtual or in-person fit sessions on live models or mannequins, applying deep knowledge of children’s growth, proportions, movement, and safety requirements.
* Provide clear and actionable technical direction—internally and externally—to bring every sample to brand fit, style standards, and quality expectations.


Production, Process & Cross-Functional Collaboration

* Maintain close partnership with Production and Merchandising teams to ensure on-time delivery through the full pre-production cycle.
* Proactively manage seasonal workflow and deadlines, ensuring speed and accuracy in all technical deliverables.


OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE


Technical Expertise

* Strong technical knowledge of children’s apparel—boys’ and girls’ silhouettes, construction methods, sewing techniques, textiles, trims, and safety guidelines.
* Deep understanding of children’s body growth and how it impacts fit, grading, and wearability.
* Proficiency in patternmaking, garment engineering, and industry fit standards.
* High accuracy in measurements, math, and spec revisions.


Tools & Systems

* Proficiency in Adobe Creative (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office.


Soft Skills & Work Style

* Exceptional communication, organisation, and documentation skills.
* Ability to lead fittings, take precise notes, and drive clear corrective actions.
* Thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance environment with strong accountability and attention to detail.
* Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize shifting workloads.


Experience & Education

* Degree in Fashion Technical Design, Patternmaking, or related field.
* 5+ years of experience specifically in Children’s Technical Design.
