Funditec (Technological Foundation) is a non-profit applied research centre that promotes technological innovation as a driver of competitiveness and sustainability. In response to the current growth of the centre, we are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to lead FUNDITEC's strategy in funded R&D projects at the EU level, mainly in Horizon Europe in the areas of Advanced Materials & AgriFood. The role will involve managing the promotion of FUNDITEC research lines in these two areas and the preparation of proposals, contributing as a Business Development Manager (EU-BDM).
The EU-BDM will work in the FUNDITEC’s Projects Department to position FUNDITEC in EU funding programmes, following our R&D areas within the Advanced Materials and Agrifood departments. Extensive knowledge of EU funding programmes of at least 4 years is a must, with proven experience in these technical areas.
Main tasks:
* Promote FUNDITEC’s R&D capacities in the areas of Advanced Materials and Agrifood to attract potential partners and customers for future proposals and projects.
* Represent FUNDITEC in selected EU platforms and clusters of which FUNDITEC is member.
* Work closely with FUNDITEC's research groups to understand their competencies and propose relevant topics of interest to develop the annual R&D strategy of each research group in collaboration with them, including economic objectives.
* Participate in networking activities such as European Infodays, NCP events, brokerage events, working group meetings, scientific conferences, etc., both in Spain and other countries of Europe.
* Visit new customers/partners and manage and maintain the relationships with existing ones.
* Contribute to writing high quality proposals, particularly in defining impact and exploitation strategies with feasible business cases and implementation aspects.
* Coordinate internally with Principal Investigators on proposal writing and preparation.
* Manage more administrative aspects of the proposals.
* Prepare proposal budgets according to funding programme requirements and rules.
Job Requirements
To fill this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and positive person who has:
* An undergraduate or Master’s degree in a technical career in a research field related to life-sciences or similar disciplines aligned with the areas of Advanced Materials & Agrifood.
* Proven experience of at least 3 years in EU funding programmes such as Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. In particular, in coordination of large consortia, writing and submission. Experience in similar positions (promotion and proposal preparation) is highly appreciated.
* Ability to communicate at advanced level in English and Spanish (both written and spoken) is mandatory.
* Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Scientific/technical leadership skills.
* Proven ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* Willingness to travel both within Spain and to other European countries
