Contract Details:
Temporary, full-time (37.5 hours/week), starting around 16 September 2025, with a 3-year duration (possible extension of 1 year). Salary:
1600 EUR/month (14 payments), full social security coverage.
Research Focus:
Investigation of atmospheric electricity phenomena, lightning detection, and atmospheric chemical pollution using space- and ground-based measurements and modeling tools such as WRF and data from satellite instruments (LI, FCI, IRS, UVN) and the Atmospheric Space Interaction Monitor (ASIM).
Requirements:
Master's degree in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Meteorology, or related fields.
High proficiency in programming (Python, Fortran), data analysis, and English (C1 level).
Academic excellence, motivation, and flexibility.
Experience with satellite data analysis, atmospheric transport, and chemistry modeling are positives.
Research Tasks:
Develop methods to quantify lightning-produced nitrogen oxides.
Investigate the chemical role of lightning and corona discharges using models and measurements.
Additional Information:
Living expenses in Granada are lower than in other parts of Spain. The candidate must be registered as a doctoral student at the University of Granada by early September 2025 if not already enrolled.
