Sompo has a unique opportunity for a
Junior Cyber Underwriter – Iberian Market, focused on the Spanish and Portuguese markets, within our
Financial Lines
team in Spain. This role supports the growth of a profitable, diversified Cyber insurance business and assists the current Cyber Product leader in achieving top‐line and bottom‐line goals. The position aligns with the anticipated growth of the Financial Lines segment in 2026 and reflects our strategic direction. The selected candidate will issue policies, deliver superior service to stakeholders, and help differentiate Sompo in the market.
Location:
Barcelona or Madrid office (the position will be based in one of these locations).
What You'll Be Doing
Contribute to the growth and profitability of Sompo International's portfolio by sourcing submissions, underwriting, pricing, marketing, and managing Cyber insurance business and territories, aiming to maximize expected profitability and risk‐adjusted return on capital.
Assist the Cyber product leader in managing existing client and broker relationships while developing new business opportunities, building a diversified and balanced book by risk profile and segmentation.
Analyze underwriting information and ensure appropriate terms and conditions are secured and aligned with our underwriting guidelines.
Perform contract negotiations, attend broker meetings and conduct underwriting reviews.
Proactively promote the Sompo Cyber footprint and increase recognition in Spain and Portugal.
Cross‐sell other Sompo International Specialty Lines products, identifying insurance needs that evolve from insured transactions.
What You'll Bring
A recognised qualification in law, economics, finance, and/or IT engineering.
1–3 years in Cyber Insurance underwriting.
Experience building and growing a profitable Cyber Insurance book in European markets.
Proven disciplined approach to underwriting.
Knowledge of the Cyber Insurance market, regulation, and products.
Excellent networking skills and relationships with clients and brokers in Iberia.
Analytical, energetic, creative, meticulous, driven, determined self‐starter, smart, hardworking, resilient, ambitious, and a good team player.
Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
Flexibility and willingness to travel and deliver top service quality.
Working proficiency in Spanish and English.
