Atradius Collections is one of the world’s leading commercial debt collection agencies and a world-class credit management organization. Currently, we are looking for an experienced new colleague to fill the position of an in-house lawyer (Legal Advisor) in our central Legal and Compliance Department. The person holding this position will provide expert legal advice (with a focus on commercial law and contract law) related to the company’s day-to-day operations. Such person will work closely with the business to ensure its success and profitability.
The position is within the Iberia & South America region and the North America region, which comprises several countries including Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The candidate will need to work in an international environment, close to business operations while being involved in high-level development projects.
The Legal Advisor is expected to be based in Madrid and will report to the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager.

Your Key Responsibilities
1. Provide legal, regulatory, and compliance advice to Atradius Collections’ activities in the Iberia & South America and North America regions, managing all legal topics in these areas.
2. Draft, negotiate, and review a variety of contracts, including service level agreements, supply agreements, accounts receivable management service agreements, stand-by servicing agreements, referral agreements, and agent agreements.
3. Support corporate governance matters such as preparing minutes of the Board of Directors and Shareholders’ meetings, coordinating the approval of annual accounts, and managing registrations in relevant Commercial Registers.
4. Contribute to data protection compliance, including advising on data processing agreements, conducting privacy impact assessments, international data transfers, and responding to data subjects’ requests.
5. Enhance compliance policies and procedures to improve internal controls and ensure legal adherence.
6. Stay informed on industry developments and changes in laws and regulations affecting operations in assigned regions.
7. Support the Group Compliance Department in managing risks related to international sanctions, including sanctions screening and related issues.
8. Collaborate with business colleagues to achieve business goals while managing legal risks.
9. Maintain strong connections within the Legal and Compliance Department, sharing best practices and understanding future needs.
10. Perform other legal tasks and projects as assigned by the Legal & Compliance Senior Manager.
Qualifications
1. A university degree in Law, good academic credentials, and post-qualification experience.
2. 2-4 years of relevant experience as in-house counsel or a law firm attorney.
3. Experience in international or global organizations is advantageous.
4. Experience with contracts and corporate governance matters.
5. Knowledge of GDPR is an advantage.
6. Fluent in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a plus).
7. Ability to work cross-border, learn quickly, take initiative, work proactively, and prioritize under pressure.
8. Detail-oriented, organized, reliable, and resourceful, with a focus on supporting the business.
9. Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
10. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
