This role fulfills a manager position on the European packaging procurement team. The ideal candidate will play a key part in driving forward sustainability initiatives across packaging portfolio.Areas of responsibility:Strategic sourcing – Develop and execute cost advantaged strategies to procure packaging materials for EuropeSupply Market Expertise – continuously monitor supply and demand dynamics in key packaging materials (rigid containers, corrugate, flexible labels, pouches, secondary packaging, etc.). Understand buying position in the market vs. our competitors, as well as supplier positions and negotiations powerCost Savings - generate new ideas and execute on those ideas to deliver cost reductions in line with the specific targets. Engage suppliers on pricing and supply related issues for new product quotes, volume transfers and/or cost savings projects.Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) – partner with internal R&D and supplier technical experts to improve life cycle cost of our packaging (minimize waste, maximize product performance, re-use packaging instead of repurchasing where applicable, etc.)Product Supply - Manage intermittent supply issues and support planning organization to ensure supplier performance and complianceInnovations Support – Support new project initiatives from the business, attend team functions and provide input, engage suppliers to help team understand potential costs and design/cost implication, engage larger Supply Chain functions when necessary, execute startups.Communications - Develop appropriate communications to advise business of supplier performance and supply issues.Sustainability – work closely with Diversey’s corporate sustainability and strategy office to develop ESG targets related to packaging, as well as execution plans and strategies Education/Qualifications: Bachelor degree in packaging engineering or supply chain, engineering, chemical engineering or related fieldMBA preferredKnowledge of packaging categories, knowledge of European and global packaging supply marketStrong analytical skills, ability to work with data analytics function and drive insights from data analysisBasic understanding of packaging related commodity indexes (HDPE, LDPE, PP, paper, wood and metals related industry indexes or price tracking mechanisms)Experience3+ years of work experience in procurement, packaging category management, supply chainLeadership Capability:Drive for Results - Communicates persuasively to win support, leverages understanding of key business drivers in own area to get resultsCollaborating & Influencing - influences others through reasoning and relationships and understands how to operate in a matrix organization and use networks appropriately to get things doneFunctional Capability:Strategic Sourcing, contract managementAnalytical thinking: ability to quickly analyze data and transform it into meaningful insights.Commodity Risk Management and supply continuityCommunications & Negotiations
