AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In this role, you will provide full life‑cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will serve as the go‑to engineering resource for your region, using your expertise to troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and provide corrective action documentation for site and equipment failures.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct root cause analysis and create corrective action documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
- Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency and sustainability.
- Interface with internal teams (operations, design engineering, server hardware, environmental health and safety) to promote standards maintaining consistency and reliability.
- Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.
- Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on‑site visits; produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation).
- 4+ years of commissioning experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
- Valid US driver’s license and reliable personal transportation.
- Strong engineering judgment, excellent communication and writing skills, and a data‑oriented mindset.
- Leadership and problem‑solving skills with ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage budgets.
- Experience managing engineering projects and consultants.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers (e.g., UPS, generators, switchgear, power distribution units, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAHs, fans, etc.).
Benefits
Base salary range: USD 116,800.00 – 160,000.00 annually for the Lubbock, TX location. Compensation includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and location.
