About BSC The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing centre in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and hosts EuroHPC JU. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D; in computer and computational science, employing over 1,000 staff from 60 countries.
Context And Mission The Earth Sciences Department, led by Prof Francisco Doblas‑Reyes, is looking for a junior Python and Web developer to join the Data and Diagnostic Team. The role involves developing and maintaining web applications for operational services based on Plone CMS and interactive dashboards using Dash and Plotly. Responsibilities include back‑end data collection, formatting, and processing.
Key Duties
Design and develop software improvements within Agile methodologies
Contribute to user support and bug fixing
Maintain current operational services
Contribute to documentation
Requirements
Education
Bachelor in Computer Science, Telecommunications or related discipline
Master’s degree will be valued
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Excellent development skills in Python
Excellent web programming skills: JavaScript, CSS, etc.
Experience with mobile app development
Experience with Unix/Linux environments and scripting (bash, …)
Experience in using web debuggers
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Version control in a distributed team like Git will be valued
Previous knowledge of scientific applications on parallel computers will be valued
Previous knowledge of Dash/Plotly will be valued
Notions of UI/UX will be valued

Willingness and capacity to learn about new technologies and procedures
Capacity to work and communicate in an international and interdisciplinary environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Conditions
Location: BSC within the Earth Sciences Department
Full‑time contract (37.5 h/week) with adaptable working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support
Open‑ended contract linked to project and budget duration
Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24th and 31st December per collective agreement
Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
Start date: ASAP
