Financial Controller (Spain)
Position OverviewThe Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company in Spain, ensuring compliance with local regulations, managing reporting processes, and supporting strategic decision-making. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and optimizing business performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & ControlPrepare and supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsEnsure accuracy and compliance with
Spanish GAAP (PGC)
and, where applicable, IFRSManage general ledger, reconciliations, and closing processesMonitor internal controls and implement improvements
Compliance & TaxationEnsure compliance with Spanish tax regulations (VAT, Corporate Tax, SII reporting, etc.)Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisorsOversee statutory filings and regulatory requirements
Budgeting & ForecastingLead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processesPerform variance analysis and provide actionable insightsSupport business units with financial planning
Cash Flow & TreasuryMonitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capitalManage relationships with banks and financial institutionsOptimize treasury processes
Business PartneringProvide financial insights to senior managementSupport strategic decisions with data-driven analysisCollaborate with operations, sales, and HR teams
RequirementsEducation & QualificationsDegree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fieldProfessional certification (e.G., ACCA, CIMA, or Spanish equivalent) is a plus
Experience5–10+ years of experience in finance/accounting rolesPrevious experience as Financial Controller or Senior AccountantExperience in multinational environments is highly valued
Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of Spanish accounting standards (PGC) and tax regulationsExperience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Navision, etc.)Advanced Excel skills
LanguagesFluent in SpanishProfessional level of English (minimum C1).
