Position Overview
Cocoon Bioscience is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive global sales and partnerships for our products and platform.
Based on proprietary Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS) technology utilizing silkworm cocoon production, we're delivering high-quality enzymes to the life sciences market.
This role requires a unique combination of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and relationship-building skills to accelerate our growth in the RUO enzyme market.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or Business Administration
Advanced degree (MSc, MBA, or PhD) strongly preferred
Experience
Minimum 7 years in business development, sales, or commercial roles within the life sciences industry
Proven track record selling molecular biology reagents, enzymes, or research consumables
Demonstrated success in global B2B sales with measurable revenue growth
Experience with RUO products, biotech manufacturing, or enzyme applications preferred
Technical Knowledge
Understanding of molecular biology techniques (PCR, NGS, DNA synthesis)
Familiarity with enzyme applications in research and diagnostics
Knowledge of competitive landscape in molecular enzymes (T7 polymerases, ligases, pyrophosphatases, NGS enzymes)
Understanding manufacturing technologies (expression systems, protein purification) is advantageous
Languages
Essential:
Fluent English, other languages a plus.
Commercial Skills
Expertise in solution selling and consultative sales approaches
Strong negotiation and contract management capabilities
Experience with pricing strategies, financial modeling, and business case development
Responsibilities
Revenue Generation & Sales
Drive sales targets:
Achieve annual revenue goals and contribute to company projections
Pipeline development:
Build and manage a robust sales pipeline across key markets and customer segments
Deal closure:
Lead negotiations from initial contact through contract signing and implementation
Account management:
Develop strategic relationships with key accounts in pharma, biotech, academia, and diagnostics
Technical sales support:
Provide pre-sales technical consultation, understanding customer applications and matching enzyme solutions to their needs
Market Development & Strategy
Market intelligence:
Monitor competitive activity, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities in the RUO enzyme space
Customer insights:
Gather feedback on product performance, customer requirements, and unmet needs to inform R&D; priorities
Business planning:
Contribute to commercial planning, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
Marketing & Communications
Digital presence:
Contribute to website content, blog posts, and SEO strategy to enhance online visibility
Marketing collateral:
Develop sales presentations, brochures, and technical documentation for various customer segments
Social media engagement:
Support LinkedIn and other professional platform activities to build brand awareness and thought leadership
Product launches:
Support marketing activities for new enzyme releases
Trade show planning:
Coordinate booth presence, promotional materials, and pre-show marketing for conferences and exhibitions
Brand messaging:
Ensure consistent brand voice and value proposition
Partnership & Collaboration
Strategic partnerships:
Identify and develop relationships with potential OEM partners, distributors, and co-development opportunities
Cross-functional liaison: Serve as the bridge between customers and Cocoon's technical teams (R&D;, Production, Quality)
Specification development:
Work with customers and internal teams to establish product specifications that meet market requirements
Customer success:
Ensure customer satisfaction through technical support, application troubleshooting, and responsive service
Representation & Networking
Event presence:
Represent Cocoon at international conferences, trade shows, and industry events (SLAS, PEGS, BIO, regional symposia)
