Overview Role: Buyer GPCS (Global Procurement Central Services) in Operations - Procurement. Non-Inventory Buyer for a Fulfilment Centre (FC) cross functional team. Work with internal Amazon teams and vendors to administer and source non-inventory goods and services, including warehouse/office supplies, safety equipment, tools for internal consumption and repair and maintenance services.
The GPCS Team, reporting to the Global Procurement Organisation (GPO), ensures value for money on non-inventory goods to provide FCs with necessary shipping supplies. As a GPCS Buyer, you will support all FCs within a cluster for procurement, securing the flow of packaging goods and services at best overall value on a day-to-day basis. The number of FCs in a cluster will depend on FC size and other parameters. The GPCS Buyer reports to the Regional Manager for GPCS EMEA.
Responsibilities Plan and execute the daily forecast and effective materials management of all non-inventory packaging supplies
Execute purchase order creation based on the planned forecast and internal requests
Liaise with suppliers to secure prompt deliveries for the full range of shipping supplies
Develop relationships with primary internal customers (on-site management teams), external suppliers and other Amazon Teams (Operations and Corporate)
Work in full compliance with the company Spending and Transaction Policy
Plan the truck deliveries in full while placing replenishment orders
Plan time slots for deliveries upfront with the suppliers
Communicate the accurate delivery schedule to the local FC stores teams
Be the escalation POC to ensure deliveries are offloaded as per the agreed timelines with suppliers
Work with Operations and Stores to define strategies to mitigate space constraints
Manage and drive down the number of Invoices on Hold (IOH) requests
Support change initiatives and continuous improvement projects aimed at improving the efficiency of shipping supplies processes
Proactively flag delivery issues with the Regional Manager in GPCS as well as the EU Procurement Team for visibility
Provide support to other cluster buyers as and when required
Interact with the FC Stores Coordinators on a daily basis to get a sense of activities on the shop floor
Provide training to new cluster buyers
Deliver Procurement metrics in line with set targets, including KPI achievement, cost savings for the cluster, avoiding FC stock-outs, and meeting project objectives
Requirements Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
Advanced proficiency in local language in both written and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications Any additional sourcing and/or purchasing competencies would be advantageous
Relevant experience with shipping supplies (Corrugated Materials)
Relevant purchasing experience in Procurement, ideally within a large-scale, fast-paced Retail Distribution, Production or Manufacturing environment
Relevant experience in Materials Management and Logistics domains
Basic knowledge of ERP and/or MRP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Coupa)
