**Your Opportunity**
We are seeking a passionate and experienced **Coordinator Safety and Wellbeing** to lead and shape our Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management System. In this role, you'll ensure legislative compliance, champion a positive safety culture, and provide expert advice to create a safer and healthier workplace for all TSIRC employees.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement TSIRC's WHS Management System, including policies, procedures, and risk management strategies.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with WHS legislation and Council policies.
- Deliver WHS training programs and promote safety awareness initiatives.
- Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce risks.
- Manage workers' compensation claims and develop effective rehabilitation and return-to-work strategies.
- Lead the WHS Committee, fostering consultative relationships with Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs).
- Partner with Council departments to align WHS strategies with operational goals.
**What You'll Bring**

- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) and significant WHS experience.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive cultural and organisational change.
- Experience in incident investigations, audits, and WHS system management.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills across all organisational levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for reporting and training.
**Desirable Skills and Qualifications**
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- General Construction Induction Training (White Card).
- Accreditation as a WHS Auditor or Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Certificate (to be attained within 3 months).
- Knowledge of Torres Strait languages, including Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, and Creole.

**Additional Requirements**
- A QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence.
