About the role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and interpersonal skills to join our Construction & Engineering team in Spain. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior professional who is eager to develop a career in technical underwriting.
You will work closely with senior underwriters and internal stakeholders to deliver tailored insurance solutions, combining technical understanding of risks with commercial awareness.
Role responsibilities
* Contributing to the underwriting process for Construction & Engineering risks, including reviewing submissions and assisting in risk assessment and pricing.
* Conducting preliminary analysis of technical documentation, project information and risk exposures.
* Participating in the preparation of insurance proposals, as well as various documents, marketing materials, and sales presentations.
* Assisting in the preparation of underwriting files, quotes and policy documentation.
* Supporting senior underwriters in day-to-day underwriting activities and portfolio management.
* Maintaining an up to date portfolio database.
* Monitoring and maintaining accurate records of underwriting data and documentation in internal systems.
* Assisting with renewal processes and ensuring timely follow-up of outstanding information.
* Collaborating with brokers and internal teams to ensure efficient handling of submissions and queries.
* Supporting business development activities, including preparation of presentations and marketing materials.
* Staying informed about market trends, industry developments and emerging risks within the construction and engineering sector.
* Ensuring compliance with internal underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Key requirements
* Recent graduate with technical or university education in Engineering, Architecture or a related technical field.
* Professional experience in a construction and/or engineering company, or in an E&C primary insurer (underwriting/loss control engineering/claims), would be a plus, but not essential.
* Basic understanding of Construction & Engineering risks.
* Commercial mindset and interest in developing client and broker relationships.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power BI) with the ability to quickly learn internal systems.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-oriented mindset and a proactive attitude.
* Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Fluency in Spanish and English.
