Supervise the daily operation of the laundry. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Laundry Managers are vital to the management of any facility. They must possess technical proficiency, assess methods and procedures, understand equipment and supplies, exercise good judgment on corrective actions, and determine the importance of divisional programs.
The Laundry Manager reports to the Executive Housekeeper for the efficient daily operation of the laundry facility.
Apply common sense and follow detailed written or oral instructions. Handle guest-related problems effectively.
Manage washing, ironing, dry cleaning, and storage of all laundry products.
Ensure all equipment is operational and coordinate repairs with the Executive Housekeeper.
Coordinate with divisions for proper linen sorting, ensuring cleanliness and correct categorization.
Inspect finished products to ensure quality, and enforce quality controls at each stage.
Inspect dryers daily for lint and proper temperature operation.
Conduct daily equipment inspections, ensuring maximum capacity and water temperature, and submit reports to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
Coordinate cleaning of non-logo uniforms, verifying items as bona fide uniforms to avoid charges.
Report all laundry problems to the Executive Housekeeper.
Oversee sorting and washing procedures.
Manage timely distribution of linen to various areas including staterooms, crew cabins, F&B, Spa, Pool, and Cruise Division.
Coordinate washing schedules with the Cruise Division for costumes and special items.
Set formulas and cycles based on linen type and soil, partnering with Ecolab for calibration and maintenance.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
Manage machinery maintenance and repairs, reporting malfunctions promptly.
Complete requisitions for chemicals and monitor the budget, advising on non-chemical supplies as needed.
Coordinate with the Senior Deck Supervisor to ensure timely return of Top Suite items with quality assurance.
Perform quality control checks on guest linens and liaise with relevant staff to ensure quality standards.
Review weekly laundry sales, revenue, and budgets with the Executive Housekeeper to meet targets.
Handle guest concerns to ensure maximum satisfaction.
Other duties may be assigned.
Follow environmental policies regarding waste disposal and chemical use.
Follow all SQM policies.
Participate in emergency procedures, with full physical capability to perform life-saving drills.
Hiring Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of related experience or training in laundry, or equivalent education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret English safety and procedural documents.
Physical requirements include standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, talking, hearing, and smelling. May need to sit, stoop, kneel, or crawl in emergencies. Must lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.
