Staff Engineer - Platform Architecture - Own Distributed Systems Integrity at Scale
We are recruiting on behalf of a regulated, high-transaction digital platform serving millions of users across multiple markets. The organisation is executing a full platform rewrite across backend, DevOps, and frontend, with platform-level architectural ownership required to ensure long-term structural integrity.
This environment operates real-money wallet and ledger systems under regulatory scrutiny. Event-driven services must handle extreme concurrency while preserving financial correctness, sequencing guarantees, and resilience under failure.
As a Staff Engineer, you'll be focused on platform architecture, governance, and long-term system design within a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based ecosystem.
Your Role:
You will operate as a Staff Engineer owning distributed systems architecture across the platform. Your focus is structural integrity over time - ensuring event-driven services, wallet flows, and core APIs scale safely while maintaining invariant discipline.
You will shape architectural patterns, enforce correctness standards, and guide senior engineers across backend and infrastructure domains.
What You’ll Do:
* Own distributed systems architecture across event-driven services and core platform components
* Define scalable patterns for high-throughput financial and wallet-related systems
* Ensure idempotency, atomic operations, retry modelling, and reconciliation are built into platform design
* Guide long-term system evolution within Kubernetes and cloud-native environments (GCP-centric)
* Provide architectural governance across CI/CD-heavy, API-first services
* Model scale thinking toward high write throughput scenarios while preserving consistency guarantees
* Support senior engineers with architectural reviews and failure-mode analysis
What You Bring:
* Deep distributed systems architecture experience in high-scale environments
* Strong background in event-driven systems and high-throughput design
* Experience in financial systems, wallet/ledger domains, or regulated transactional platforms preferred
* Strong experience in Golang
* Strong governance mindset with focus on structural resilience and long-term maintainability
* Ability to reason about correctness under uncertainty and production risk
* Experience operating in fast-paced, delivery-critical environments
