Software Engineering Manager – Ubuntu Linux KernelJoin Canonical as a Software Engineering Manager and lead technical teams that deliver and maintain all Linux kernels for the Ubuntu Linux distribution.Canonical is a leading provider of open‐source software and operating systems. Our platform, Ubuntu, powers public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation and IoT solutions worldwide.Your responsibility as an Engineering Manager is to mentor your team, drive successful delivery of kernel features and updates, and shape the technical strategy for Ubuntu Linux.Lead a geographically distributed team of software engineers working on delivery and support of Ubuntu Linux kernels.Own specific areas such as hardware integration, compatibility across platforms, quality controls, security hardening, and automation of build, test and delivery pipelines.Collaborate with internal teams, the open‐source community, and commercial partners to meet community expectations.experience with Python, Golang or similar is highly regarded.Linux experience is a plus.Demonstrated management or leadership of software engineering teams.Proficiency with Git and experience with software packaging; familiarity with Ubuntu/Debian/Snap is a plus.Excellent written and spoken English with strong presentation skills.Active public involvement in an open‐source project.Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year.Annual compensation review and performance‐driven bonus.Recognition rewards, annual holiday leave, maternity and paternity leave.Canonical is a pioneering tech firm that publishes Ubuntu.
