The Product Owner Data Quality role
The Product Owner Data Quality role in the Data Management & Governance team drives the enterprise data quality vision, ensuring trusted and reliable data across Boehringer Ingelheim. The Product Owner leads the rollout and adoption of a standardized data quality framework and owns the enterprise data quality platform, including Ataccama. Working closely with data domain teams, use case teams, data engineering, and governance teams, the role embeds data quality into daily operations to enable better decision‑making and business value.
Responsibilities
- Define and manage the product vision and roadmap for enterprise data quality capabilities, ensuring alignment with business priorities, use cases, and domain data strategies.
- Design, implement, and rollout a standardized data quality framework across data domains and analytics platforms.
- Own and continuously enhance the enterprise data quality platform (Ataccama), including configuration, feature prioritization, and scalability.
- Collaborate with data domain owners, data stewards, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and define data quality use cases.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, define user stories, and guide delivery with data engineering and technical teams using Agile practices.
- Ensure that data quality initiatives are aligned with data governance policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Define KPIs and monitor mechanisms to measure data quality performance, platform adoption, and business value.
- Drive organizational adoption through communication, training, and enablement of data domain teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Long‑term experience as Product Owner, Product Manager, or a similar role in enterprise data, analytics, or BI environments.
- Hands‑on experience implementing or managing enterprise data quality tools, preferably Ataccama or comparable platforms.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with strong backlog management and delivery coordination skills.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with multiple business domains and translate business needs into scalable data solutions.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking to define measurable outcomes and prioritize based on value.
- Solid understanding of modern data ecosystems, including data warehousing, BI tools, data pipelines, and metadata management.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive change and adoption across the organization.
