Compensation & Benefits
Hiring Salary: $6,455/month.
This is a full‑time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non‑exempt position.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Eligible employees are also able to participate in the fee waiver education program.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the administration of a Division I Equestrian program.
Ensure the health, wellbeing, and academic success of student‑athletes.
Develop the competitive nature of the Equestrian program.
Assist in maintaining the sport budget.
Schedule and organize practice and competitions.
Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and university rules.
Develop and enforce written team rules and expectations.
Recruit quality student‑athletes who intend to graduate.
Monitor and maintain academic progress and eligibility of team members.
Support the philosophy, policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics.
Promote intercollegiate athletics as an integral part of the university.
Key Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and a history of rules compliance.
Coaching philosophy and teaching concepts compatible with the Head Coach and Athletic Department’s vision.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with student‑athletes, administrators, support staff, and community groups.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher education accredited by one of the six U.S. regional accrediting associations.
Minimum of 1 year of experience coaching at the collegiate level or in USEF/USHJA A‑rated horse shows.
