The Industrial Procurement Category Manager for MRO & Capex will manage the tactical and strategic sourcing and supplier management of capex and MRO within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted operations, compliance with GMP standards, the timely implementation of the capex master plan and alignment with the company’s global procurement strategy.
Key Responsibilities Develop and execute category strategies for MRO, including Capex and industrial supplies, tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing sites.
Lead sourcing initiatives that support operational excellence, cost optimization, and risk mitigation.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, R&D and manufacturing teams, leading the sourcing part, to align procurement strategies with technical and business requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams in industrial Capex projects to achieve and implement the best competitive solution.
Manage supplier performance through KPIs, audits, and continuous improvement programs.
Act as a trusted procurement advisor for internal technical stakeholders.
Drive digitalization and sustainability initiatives within the MRO category.
Ensure alignment of category strategies with the company’s procurement standards and global practices.
Internal/External Relationships Negotiate and influence internal stakeholders to ensure compliance and best benefits for the company.
Work with a diverse group of stakeholders and adapt to varying levels of collaboration.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, solving problems and ensuring excellent service, quality and reliable supply.
Apply a collaborative and long-term approach to supplier relationship management.
Knowledge and Skills Proven ability to manage complex supplier networks and collaborate with cross-functional teams in industrial environments.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Ariba) and data analytics tools.
Advanced MS Excel & PPT skills.
GMP knowledge is a plus.
Strong ability to negotiate and manage procurement contracts of significant value.
Fluency in English and Spanish is essential.
Strong numerical and project management skillset.
Proactive, energetic, and committed with excellent self-management practices.
Flexible, adaptable, and pragmatic with a passion for excellence and ability to lead changes.
Education/Experience University degree (Business Administration, Economics or Engineering).
Minimum 5 years of industrial procurement experience in the chemical or pharmaceutical sector, ideally with focus on MRO. Experience in capex procurement is a plus.
