The Team
This role sits within the FSI team at Alvarez and Marsal in Madrid. Our FSI practice provides assistance to financial institutions which are seeking organic or inorganic growth opportunities, require restructuring or are seeking to conduct strategic reviews. Working directly with our client's management, A&M's involvement reassures all stakeholders that the company is taking important steps to address its problems and to maximise value.
We work with clients across the Financial Services industry including banks, private equity investors, regulatory authorities, insurers, wealth and asset managers and other specialised FS firms. A&M's FSI professionals work on some of the world's most high‑profile cases in a rapidly transforming financial services landscape, striving for game‑changing solutions that provide impactful long‑term change. Our global team is comprised of seasoned financial services executives from diverse backgrounds, former senior industry executives, financial institution regulators and highly skilled consultants.
How you will contribute
This is a great opportunity to leverage your financial services and consultancy experience by joining a dynamic, hands‑on team. You will become part of the Revenue Improvement Solutions team, based in Madrid but serving clients globally, where you will have the opportunity to build your skills and become an integral part of the team.
* The consultant will join a team specialized in revenue improvement for the banking industry which is based in the Madrid office of Alvarez & Marsal
* The delivery of the projects is global, which implies the need to travel to the countries where the clients are
* The consultant will propose concrete ideas and will build complete business cases to improve the profitability of the client's products, having a transversal vision of the banking business (design of products and commercial strategies, operational aspects, risks, regulatory aspects, implementations, etc.)
* The consultant will build his analyses on the basis of the bank's transactional data (with which he will build financial models), analyze banking processes, the product portfolio, customer behavior, the competitive environment and the regulatory framework
* The identified initiatives are presented to the bank's C‑level executives; hence, the project has wide visibility in the organization
* The team currently carries out projects in top‑tier banks in more than 20 countries on 3 continents
Qualifications
* Motivated person with great analytical capacity and interest in building complex financial models from transactional data
* 1–4 years with a background in consulting within the financial services sector
* Ease of handling and analyzing large databases (knowledge of Access, SQL, SAS or similar)
* Interest in specializing in the financial sector (mainly retail banking) and in results‑oriented business consulting
* Graduate in Economics, Business Administration and Management, Engineering, Mathematician or similar degrees with a clearly quantitative profile
* The candidate must have a strong quantitative base that allows the required specialized knowledge to be acquired quickly
Languages:
* English: Professional level (required)
* Any other language (like Spanish) will be positively valued
