Technical Director Supervisor is responsible for understanding the creative visions of Directors, Producers, and Visual Effects Supervisors, and providing practical tools and workflows. The ideal candidate has experience building and supporting full feature animation production pipelines, excellent communication skills, and the ability to quickly learn new workflows and technical skills.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with VFX and CG Supervisors to understand artistic goals and set roadmaps for the Production TD teams.
* Report on the technical health of the production and ongoing development projects.
* Examine user experiences and satisfaction to identify improvements in production pipelines.
* Ensure the overall health of the Production TDs.
* Participate in meetings to set direction and ensure technical requirements are met.
* Guide the team, supervise work quality, and work with production to meet deadlines.
* Partner with HR and Talent Acquisition to source top industry talent.
* Mentor emerging artists and guide their career development.
* Represent the company by utilizing industry networks and maintaining relationships with key players.
* Stay updated on current technology trends and tools to enhance the creative technical environment.
* Coordinate with other departments to develop solutions using procedural techniques.
Requirements
* 8+ years in VFX or animation industries.
* 4+ years as a Lead in the animation industry.
* BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
* Experience developing tools in platforms such as Maya, Houdini, Mari, Katana, Nuke, or Shotgun.
* Deep understanding of 3D animation film production processes, pipelines, and workflows.
* Experience with digital processes and technical solutions documentation.
* Knowledge of continuous delivery and agile methodologies.
* Advanced skills in Python and PyQt.
* Strong software engineering skills, understanding of software architecture, and management of technical debt.
* Proficiency in English; Spanish is desirable.
