The Engineering Manager — Quality Assurance will lead Valencia’s QA function and drive a standardized, shift-left QA mindset across DKB Code Factory’s teams in Spain and Germany, increasing release confidence and reducing defect leakage. You will combine people leadership with pragmatic enablement—shaping QA standards, coaching engineers, and embedding measurable quality practices into everyday delivery.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and develop QA engineers while coordinating QA practices and standards across Spain and Germany.
Conduct QA maturity assessments, publish baseline KPIs (defect leakage, automated coverage, cycle time), and deliver a prioritized 12-month QA roadmap.
Design, publish, and drive adoption of a pragmatic QA playbook (test pyramid, automation strategy, DoR/DoD quality gates) across locations.
Deliver high-impact quick wins (e.G., CI test integrations, updated DoD including QA, test guidelines) and scale successful pilots to other teams.
Embed shift-left practices by partnering with product and engineering—introduce pairing, refinement participation, and automation-first approaches.
Launch and oversee larger initiatives (automation framework standardization, contract testing, quality dashboards/observability) and measure their impact on quality KPIs.
Build and sustain a cross-location QA community (guilds, mentorship, knowledge sharing) and support hiring/onboarding for QA roles.
Qualifications
Proven experience leading QA or quality engineering teams with cross-location scope (people leadership + enablement).
Strong hands-on QA expertise: test automation frameworks (Selenium, Playwright, Cypress), API testing (Postman or equivalent), test pyramid and shift-left principles.
Practical experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD or similar) and working with Git-based workflows.
Demonstrated ability to assess QA maturity, define KPIs, and convert findings into pragmatic roadmaps and measurable quick wins.
Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills (Spain & Germany).
Comfortable working hybrid from Valencia with periodic travel to Berlin.
Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6), contract testing tools (Pact), observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus), and cloud environments (AWS) (nice-to-have).
Prior experience working in regulated environments (banking/finance) (nice-to-have). xhfqzwm
