Mobile Device Engineer II
Astreya is seeking a highly skilled and mobile Mobile Device Engineer II to install precision positioning systems for our clients, primarily focusing on fixed infrastructure such as building rooftops, ground stations, and communication towers. This is a crucial, hands‑on role that requires approximately 90% travel nationwide.
Job Overview
Are you a specialized field technician with expert-level proficiency in installing fixed‑site GPS antennae and managing low‑loss LMR400 coaxial cable runs?
Key Responsibilities
* Perform expert installation and alignment of GNSS/GPS reference antennae and associated receiver and timing hardware at stationary client sites.
* Demonstrate proficiency in handling, routing, terminating, and testing LMR400 and similar low‑loss coaxial cables in various outdoor and indoor environments.
* Execute professional coaxial cable management, including proper grounding, weatherproofing, conduit installation, and sealing of bulkhead entries.
* Read and interpret detailed installation plans, grounding schematics, and RF cable diagrams.
* Conduct signal integrity checks using appropriate RF test equipment (e.g., VNA, S‑meter) to confirm cable run loss and antenna performance meet specifications.
* Coordinate with site supervisors, construction teams, and network engineers to ensure smooth project execution.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, including as‑built drawings, test results, and inventory logs.
* Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, especially when working at heights or in construction zones.
Required Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED and 2 to 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Hands‑on experience (3+ years preferred) installing, terminating, and testing RF coaxial cabling, specifically LMR400.
* Proven experience installing and aligning high‑precision GPS/GNSS antennae and reference stations for survey‑grade or timing applications.
* Strong knowledge of RF theory, grounding techniques, and lightning protection systems for stationary antenna installations.
* Proficiency with common hand and power tools, as well as specialized test equipment (multimeters, cable testers).
* Ability to read blueprints, architectural drawings, and detailed wiring schematics.
* Certification or training in working at heights, fall protection, and relevant safety protocols (OSHA 10/30 a plus).
* Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass background checks for secure site access.
Preferred Qualifications
* Certifications in data‑center technologies.
* Hands‑on experience in electrical, HVAC, and data‑center infrastructures.
* Working knowledge of networking components and infrastructure, including Wi‑Fi.
Physical Demand & Work Environment
* Physically assist in moving and racking equipment.
* Lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
* Perform office‑related tasks that may include prolonged sitting or standing.
* Move from place to place within an office environment.
* Use a computer and communicate effectively.
* Occasional repetitive motion or movements of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Travel Commitment
* Prepare for frequent, extended periods away from home, including overnight stays, weekend travel, and rapid deployments to remote project sites.
Salary Range
$89,600.00 – $134,400.00 USD (base salary only, gross)
