Job Description: Technical Sales Engineer, Spain, Europe

The Technical Sales Engineer will be based in Madrid or Seville. The purpose of this position is to support the sales team in all technical aspects to close more and better deals faster. You will facilitate technical discussions with prospective clients, consult on design decisions, and guide complex projects through the sales cycle to a successful handoff to operations. The role requires interdisciplinary collaboration with Sales, Product Management, R&D, Supply Chain, Applications, Quality, Project Engineering, and ODMs. This position supports the sales team from beginning to end during the sales cycle and assists with configuration of existing products, product improvements, and new product offerings to meet customer needs and win more deals.


Responsibilities

* Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
* Review contract technical specifications.
* Develop and help maintain quoting tools used by the global sales team.
* Develop customer‑facing product documentation and presentations.
* Work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative; understand the implications of work and recommend solutions.
* Analyze and suggest the most common use cases for the product development roadmap.
* Lead technical training with the global sales team on changes and updates to our products, including Tracker Offerings, TrueCapture Software, and Power Electronics.
* Travel to customer sites, suppliers, and 3rd‑party testing facilities as needed.
* Collaborate with Nextracker’s internal departments—Sales, Products, Marketing, Procurement, Logistics, Planning, Project Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Asset Management—to understand and account for all project‑impacting costs.
* Understand technical specifications, drawings, tender documents, preparation/development of cost estimates, written proposals, and sales presentations of both a technical and commercial nature.
* Provide technical support to the sales team during client meetings and engagements.

Requirements

* Proficiency in English and Spanish.
* 2–4 years of experience related to utility‑scale solar power systems.
* 1+ years of experience in a customer‑facing support role.
* Field engineering, applications engineering, project design, or PV modelling experience.
* Experience deploying grid‑tied equipment such as PV, energy storage, transformers, or cogeneration, solar trackers, and solar power plant optimizing software.
* Knowledge of solar, tracker, and storage applications.
* Experience working with electrical schematics.
* Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus.
* Ability to provide realistic timelines and set customer expectations by evaluating schematics, plans, and estimating product cost and labor.
* Self‑motivated, independent, organized, technical aptitude, and excellent interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable in a dynamic atmosphere with a rapidly expanding customer base and product offering.
* Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate professionally verbally, in writing, and with presentations.
* Proven ability to solve complex problems and efficiently communicate solutions.
* Understanding of customer demand, market trends, and competitors.
* Understanding of international pricing strategies and developing markets.
* Understanding of commercial and financial aspects of the solar industry.
* Experience working with customers on a technical and commercial level.
* Advanced Excel skillset and experience using pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and IF/THEN formulas.
* Experience using Salesforce.com and NetSuite CRM/reporting features.
* Ability and desire to sell.
