About Qida:
Qida is a social impact scale-up founded in Barcelona in 2018 with the vision to become the European leader in services to the elderly at home. Our goal is to keep the elderly patients at home, for longer, through both caregiver services, as well as, insurance, data and technology. By doing this, the ultimate goal is to support health and social care systems in their path to long term sustainability. In other words, Qida is not "another" home-care business. It is a business that uses data, tech, partnerships with public and private institutions to transform how, when and where care is delivered. It works to "fix the healtha and socialc are system and on the back of it, creates a good business"; not "making a business out of a broken system that remains unfixed"
Seven years after inception, we have scaled the business to 100Mn€ GMV, 250+ office employees, over 5.500 active caregivers, enterfed profitability (EBITDA 0) and have partnerships with the largest private hospital chain in Spain (QuirónSalud), the largest bank, the largest life insurers in Spain and over 50 public institutions across the country.
We are B Corp and invested by the 3 largest social impact funds in Spain, together with Kibo Ventures, a leading Southern Europe VC. We have plans (and funding) to grow 10x en next 5 years. And this position is core to this growth and sector transformation we are doing.
About the origins and the culture:
The company was Founded by Oriol Fuertes, McKinsey Alumn in both Spain and London, where he spent c. 10 years doing healthcare work, mostly in public sector. Oriol founded Qida to transform how health and social care system work. He has a strong believe that health and social care systems need a profound reform at global scale to ensure their long term existance (and quality of care) and to do so, cost needs to be reduced. To achieve it, keeping patients at home, with high quality care as well as technology that helps prevent (avoidable) admissions is key. And in Europe, to achieve this goal, working with Public Institutions is fundamental.
In the company, we put a lot of effort in having A+ players, strong team members that create an environment where one can learn and thrive, that push the limit, that ask "what would it take" instead of "finding all the reasons why something won't work", work hard (with predictability, but hard) and have a huge hunger for growth. Scope of the role:
In short, the Director of Public Sector will lead the Public Sector Business Unit, which represents over 40% of sales at Qida and is set to expand 10x in next 5 years. The position will report into the CEO and main responsabilities are:
* Define and execute the commercial strategy to grow 10x in 5 years. We plan to expand from 50 contracts to over 150 contracts, moving towards larger contract size (larger cities that we serve)
* Define and execute the "transformation agenda" for Public BU at Group level. This is not just about growth; we want to do things differently - more tech, more integrated care, more data, more training to carers, more evidence of our impact, less cost, etc. Achieving this standard at Group level (incl. Acquired companies focused on Public BU business) is core
* Lead the operations of the BU, ensuring quality standards are met. This BU has over 1500 carers (directly involved and over 35 office staff, including regional CEOs, care coordinators, etc). The role is not just about growth, but ensuring we deliver on the promises we make, particularly on quality of care
* Attract, develop, manage, promote, let go, etc your team to ensure we have the best performing team, aligned with our culture
* Behave like a role-model of our culture towards the organisation: transparency, 0 politics, speed of execution, focus on quality, focus on development, care for the others, behave like "One Group" and not "in silos", etc
The role reports into the CEO and is part of the Executive Team (maximum level of governance in the company)
Requirements:
Must have:
* Good person, humble, willing to grow and learn
* Very well rounded profile: Conceptual, analytical, team management, project management, relational and commercial. Yes, we want it all :)
* Extremelly hands-on. This is not a position to "oversee", "manage", "only think". This is a position to "think" and "do". Anyone at Qida, regardless of how senior he/she is, opens the excel, crunches the data, get things done. The moment someone thinks "I am too expensive for this", he / she does not fit in our culture
* Fast learner and willing to grow fast in a fast paced environment (but with flexibility and predictibility)
* Spanish-speaker (although in top management we all speak english, to work with Public Clients Spanish is a must)
* Based in Barcelona or willing to work in Barcelona at least 2 days a week
* Willing to travel across Spain where we have operations. These won't be "full week trips", but more 1-2 day trips
* At least 5 years experience managing P&L end to end (commercial and Ops)
* Minimum 10 years of experience in top consulting firm, top VC/PE/Investment banking or similar jobs in start-ups/scale-up/large corporate (with high pace)
Highly recommended; not a must, but highly appreciated:
* Healthcare or social care knowledge. It will definitely help
* Public Sector experience. It will definitely help
As a final sentence: This could work for someone that either:
* Is in the Public Sector or works with the Public sector, deeply (!) cares about fixing it and wants to be in an environment with the tools, space, support, funding to actually fix it; and is willing to work hard to to do it; or
* Has no prior experience in the public sector, but cares a lot about fixing it, learns real quick, is super strong on the rest of elements (i.e. problem solving, commercial, P&L ownership, hands on, etc etc) and will put in whatever it takes to make it work
