Moderna is solidifying its footprint within our international centre for analytical excellence in Madrid, a city known for its rich scientific heritage. This facility, the largest such center outside the United States, exemplifies our commitment to solidifying our manufacturing network and advancing our promising mRNA product portfolio. We are looking for talents who can contribute to our innovative research and development efforts.
This is a unique opportunity for a logistics expert to strategically lead Moderna’s global external logistics and packaging partnerships. The Manager, 3PL Management, will own the full lifecycle of third-party logistics (3PL) relationships, from RFP to offboarding, driving strategic integration, automation, and innovation. Operating globally from our Madrid hub, this individual will be responsible for embedding AI-driven performance management systems, ensuring end-to-end GDP/GMP compliance, and integrating tools like SAP and Veeva into daily logistics workflows. The role demands a collaborative mindset, working cross-functionally with Quality, IT, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Legal, and Finance to build a best-in-class logistics network that is efficient, scalable, and compliant. This role offers direct exposure to cutting-edge digital transformation, as well as an opportunity to innovate and optimize Moderna’s global distribution infrastructure.
What you’ll do
Responsibilities
* Own and manage global end-to-end 3PL relationships, including logistics, packaging, and device partners
* Lead RFP processes, partner selection, onboarding, and contract lifecycle management
* Implement and monitor clear KPIs to track performance and drive accountability
* Embed systems and generative AI tools to automate and elevate 3PL operations
* Act as a key SAP and Veeva user for all 3PL-related activities and logistics change controls
* Ensure GDP/GMP compliance across all 3PL-related customs and handling processes
* Coordinate Quality, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain input for compliant and optimized partner management
Your responsibilities will also include
* Optimize logistics lanes and regional setups with focus on cost, lead time, agility, and sustainability
* Support daily logistics flows, including inbound, outbound, and intercompany movements
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement projects across the 3PL network
* Support deployment of IT and digital tools that streamline logistics operations
* Act as the voice of 3PL strategy within cross-functional logistics projects and stakeholder alignment

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
* Education: BS/BA in supply chain/logistics, engineering, or management/business administration
* Experience: 8–10 years (BS) or 5–8 years (MS) in distribution/logistics and supply chain
* Strong preference for pharmaceutical and biotech experience in a cGMP/cGDP environment
* 5+ years managing 3PL partners in a regulated or tech-forward logistics environment
* Full 3PL lifecycle experience (RFPs, onboarding, SLA/KPI setup, exit strategies)
* Experience in SAP or related ERP system
* Experience with logistics software (TMS, visibility tools, EDI)
* Well organized with strong communication and execution skills
* Independent work ethic and ability to drive tasks to completion
* Strong results focus and solution orientation
* Excellent verbal and written communication for collaboration in a cross-functional matrix
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
* Curious mindset to learn and challenge the status quo
Preferred Qualifications

* APICS CSCP or CLTD certification is a plus
* Experience with Cold Chain Transportation Products
* Working knowledge of GDP guidelines and regulations
